My passion

When we stepped off the plane in Uganda the air was cool (about 65-70 degrees) and there was a feeling of freedom. We got to catch up on much needed rest and try and rid ourselves of sickness. We had a nice place to stay and great hosts and a wonderful cook, Peter.

The landscape of Africa is absolutly breath taking! Its lush and green and mountainous. Practically everything you can imagine is grown in Uganda. Pineapples, mangos, rice, beans, coffee, corn, wheat, bananas and so much more.

While we were in Uganda, we painted a kindergarten at a childrens home in a village. It was tedious work but allowed us to serve the staff at the childrens home. It made me thankful for all those who do manuel labor for a living and allowed me to serve in a way I wouldn’t normally be inclined to serve. We didn’t get to interact with the kids much but I did get to see a well run and thriving orphange! It was such a contrast from India and was an encouragement to know the call the lord placed on my heart in India was possible!!!

I haven’t written on this so let me fill you in. The last day I was in India my heart broke for those kids. I’d come to know them by name and had lived with them and knew their hearts and some of their stories. These are the kids no one wants, the untouchables, children of lepors and prostitutes, the ones that are left on the side of the street to die. That made me love them even more and want to help provide them with basic necessities. Emmanuel, the orphanage where they live, truely is home to them but the conditions are still harsh. They have three rice meals a day- praise God, but they are lacking nutrition that comes from protein. This is a necessity for growing children. They would go for days without water, but you would never know it because they trust in the Lord to provide for their needs. I think it’s amazing that the Lord chooses to use us to minister and care for others. There is a great need in India and specifically at this orphanage: clothes, shoes, bibles, medical care, the list goes on and on.

John 4:13 and 14 is a verse I claim for India. It says: “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

From the richest of rich to the poorest of poor will eventually thirst again, the Lord is the only one who can satisfy. He promises that those who choose to follow him will never thirst again but have eternal life!!! This is great news!!! Praise Jesus!!

Me Apsi Piar Karti Who <3 I love you!!!!

Hello everyone!! We’re safe so safe in fact we’re in my good friend Eank’s house! India is WONDERFUL!!!!! I absolutly love it here!!! My heart broke for the kids and the people of India! The Lord has given me a passion for kids in poverty and I’ve seen that all throughout India. It was so great to live in the same conditions as the kids. It has literally been 110 degrees at all time here with no ac and hot water. The kids are beautiful and so joyful and so on fire for the Lord. I don’t want to leave!! The Lord has put India on my heart for sure. There is so much I’ve learned here and so much to share just remind me to tell you all about Inida. I still have so much to process. Pray for unity for my team and that I wouldn’t loose sight of the things I’ve learned here. Please pray for Ekank and his family as well. They are so amazing and hospitible and kind. Love you all so much pray against sickness. xoxoxoxoxoxxo

More on Hong Kong

So over the course of the week I’ve gotten to hike up a small path that looks like the jungle for about 5 miles then it opens into a beautiful waterfall! We were so hot so we took a swim in the cool water! It was awesome! Then me, Chris and kara went exploring and found a 10,000 Buddhist temple that had literally 10,000 Buddhas that were very ornate as well as intricate woodwork. It was pretty sad to see people worship there. The temple was HUGE! It went on forever with more and more stairs!

We went to church on the Island and after had lunch at an authentic Chinese restaurant. As much as I want to I really don’t like Chinese food. The meat freaks me out, you know with the bones and all yuck! After lunch we went to Victoria Peak. You take a train to get up the mountain way up high and it overlooks the entire island! It was a beautiful view! At the top there was lots of shopping. In Hong Kong there is shopping everywhere kinda like the Galleria in Houston.

We made it!

Day one went well!! So I have to be really discrete about what we are doing in our first country but, everyone got bibles through successfully!! Praise Jesus! I learned a lot about the ministry here and how important it is to get these bibles to souls that are hungry for The Word. I realized how important the body of believers is and how effective we can be if we function together. Also, thorugh this I’ve seen how God moves in the routine and mundane parts of our days.

Please pray for continued success in the opportunity that we have to serve here. Also, pray that my team and I would be a reflection of the Lord in all that we do and say. For me specifically, pray that I would listen for the Lord and wait to hear from Him.

I have a praise!! No more bad dreams!! Please continue to pray that the Lord would teach me through my dreams but that satan would would be kept far from me all the times, but specifically when I sleep.

2 months!

God is good! So far I have $3,975! Just need about $4,000 more. Let’s see, I graduate in exactly a month, and a month after that depart for China! I’m getting more excited as the specifics of the trip unfold!

Thanks for all your prayers! God is teaching me so much right now. He is refining me and removing everything that is ugly within me. It’s hard seeing all my character flaws and realizing how wicked I am at the core, but so good to know that God loves me too much to let me live a mediocre life. He calls us to holiness and to be a reflection of Him in all that we do.

That has been my recent prayer. You can pray that:
God will continue to teach me through His word
I will act on the things He is showing me need to change
I will look for opportunities to be a blessing
I will surrender each day to the Lord and be a reflection of Christ in all that I do

God is good!!!

Hello everyone!

Thank you all for your financial and prayer support!  

The Lord is so good!!  It’s been amazing to see the how God is providing for my needs financially and who He is using to support me.  I am learning a lot through this process!  

It’s been an eye opener to see who God has used to support me, mostly it’s been students and individuals that I am not particularly close with.  Raising support has been a humbling and convicting experience for me.  Through the process of raising support, I’ve learned that the money I earn is not mine and that giving is a blessing.  

I’ve also realized that those who give financially have such an important part in missions .   You may not feel called to go overseas to remote places to share Jesus with other, but the neat thing is that by supporting me, you are enabling the Word of God to be spread!  I think that is just so cool! It’s a simple revelation that God let me in on after I began raising support.

Oh my, I’ve learned so much from God through this process it just amazes me!   God teaches me a lot through talking and listening to people.  Last Wednesday after class, I was talking to a friend about his mission trip to Kenya this summer, through the course of our conversation I realized that ministry starts here!  It was a revelational moment for me.  I love moments of revelation!  It puts a smile on my face!  I have an opportunity to share Christ with others here and now, even before I go!

 The question I get asked most frequently is: What are you going to do after you graduate?  To which I reply, “I’m going on a mission trip around the world!”  Most people want to know details, so I fill them in.  In sharing how God is moving in my life and what He has called me to do this summer, I get to plant seeds even before I go!  

Pretty soon I will be selling t-shirts on campus in hopes of raising support from the student body.  This is just another way I’ll have t he opportunity to share Christ!

Satan is pretty mad about all this and I have definitely felt his attacks!  I NEED PRAYER!!  There are three scriptures I’ve been praying that you can pray over me too; Ephesians 1:17-19, Ephesians 6:14-19 (the armor of God), and Colossians 1: 9-14.  Specifically Satan has been heaping doubt on me and causing me to struggle with things that are at the core of my being that I am generally so secure in.   Also, he’s doing a really good job keeping me busy and distracting me from doing the things that need to have priority.  Often when I sit down to have a quiet time or pray, I am immediately distracted by a list of things I have to do and then when I go to do the things I need to do for school or to prepare for this journey I am distracted again by anything and everything. 

I need prayer for a clear mind when I spend time with God.  Also, trust that He will provide for me financially and that I would give Him total control of that area.  That I would not be so busy in preparing for this journey that I miss opportunities to share Christ with others, and that God is preparing me to go.  

For my team: unity-that we would be one in ministry.  Also, we don’t have any guys for the trip yet, so pray that if it’s His will that He is preparing some guys to come on the journey.  

For those we will be witnessing to:  That God is preparing the way for us ahead of time and preparing the hearts of those we will encounter, that he will soften hearts that they will be receptive to the Good News and that lives will be changed and people will be saved.   Pray also for safety.

I know this is a lot, but you can break up my prayer requests and pray for a different request each day.  Prayer is an essential part of this ministry!  God moves mightily when we pray!
